This month's Classic Book Club book: Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser. It promises to be a racy one.

Last month we read The Hiding Place  by Corri Ten Boom. I love thsi book, and I have some questions for you, because I know if you have read it, you love it too. When did you first read The Hiding Place. How did it make you feel. How does Corrie Ten Boom's life change your outlook and make you want to be better? What truths does Corrie Ten Boom share that resonate with you?

I read the Hiding Place last summer (I think...) It's one of those books that you don't easily forget. One thing that especially impressed me was her sister's ability to find and amplify beauty all around her, even in her prison cell. What a remarkable gift to have.

Sarah,

I haven't been by to visit this site for awhile and just wanted you to know I love you. I wish everything wasn't so rushed at iFamily so we could just sit and talk.

Anyway, The Hiding Place is one of my ALL-TIME favorite books. I have read it many, many times. I think I first read it as a 14 or 15 year old. I gained so many things from it, for instance

1) a fascination with WWII and an almost burning fury at totalitarian regimes.

2) A determination to "hide Jews" of whatever stripe...to be an active defender of life and to willing to defy whatever earthly laws are in place to keep me from doing that.

3) To be grateful for the lice in my life...to see the good in each situation and to use trials to glorify God.

4) To pray for all of God's children as Father ten Boom did.

5) To love and love and love some more.

6) A deep realization that each of us regardless of how old, young, rich, poor, educated, or ignorant we are can make a difference in this world and can bless the lives of others...and a determination to be that person.

Love you!
Tracy
