"She's Locking up the Public Library"

I love "It's a Wonderful Life." I love the whole premise of this movie. I also love the song "Buffalo Gals" and the broken down house they moved into after they were married. I love Mary. She's the type of lady who has good ideas flying out of her like sparks.

One of my favorite scenes is when Jimmy Stewart is finally coming to the realization that he really might not exist. He turns to Clarence with panic in his eyes and says, "Where's Mary? Where's my wife?" Clarence doesn't want to tell him and he panics; they both panic, and Clarence finally yells out, "She's Locking up the Public Library!"

Why isn't anyone laughing with me!?!

I realize that this is something that might only be funny to a librarian. And I have to be honest with you, on Saturday nights like tonight, I secretly wish some madman would come running up to me after I've turned the key and walk away from this fine fortress for books and ladies.
